UPDATE: The Rhine River cruise is no longer available
******************
Have you ever been so consumed by something that you knew you had to get done or nothing will work out? It's called FOMO (fear of missing out). That’s what I’ve been struggling with recently. As of this writing, I’ve been trying to work out my own itinerary to Fiji at the end of April. I’ve been stuck on one part for the last three days and it was stressing me out. I knew I wouldn’t be going back to Fiji for awhile after this trip so I wanted to see as many resorts/hotels, attractions and other items of interest so I could come back and tell my clients about it.
I decided to call it a day after another frustrating day of resort researching and my daughter said something along this line to me. “Mom, since we are going to Fiji, we should treat it like a vacation and not worry so much about seeing every resort or hotel around. Since you won this trip, it should be a vacation trip to do what WE want to do because it may be a long time before we come back again.” You know what, the kid has a point. After realizing this, a great weight was taken off my shoulders. So, what I’m going to do is plan just a few resort visits, talk to a couple of other suppliers and leave the remaining time to sightsee, lounge on the beach and just enjoy ourselves. I know there will be another time in the future when I will come back with other travel advisors in the industry for an official trip to see more resorts and sights.
With that out of the way, let’s talk about cruising.
Alaska
The cruise season is coming up and you’ll be seeing more ships coming into Canada Place very soon. I encourage you to take a trip downtown and take a look at these ships coming in and imagine yourself in one of those balcony staterooms sailing up to Alaska. For those of us here in the Lower Mainland, taking a cruise from Vancouver is probably the best cruise deal you can do because you don’t have to pay for airfare to get on your cruise. You just need to Skytrain, bus it, drive, Uber or taxi it down to Canada Place and you’re at the cruise terminal! Call me and let’s see what type of deal I can still find you to Alaska this season.
Greece
Last year I offered cruise space for those who are members of the Bonsor 55+ Centre for a cruise around the Greek Islands from September 19-26, 2026. At this time, I’m also opening this up to friends and family of the Bonsor 55+ members and my other clients. You’ll visit ports of call such as Santorini, Mykonos and Kusadasi, Türkiye. Choose from inside or outside staterooms. Please click here to visit my website for more information.
Rhine River Cruise
Have you been thinking about a river cruise lately? How about one from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam, Holland in the fall? They have wine themed excursions as well as other excursions. Afterwards, stay in Amsterdam for two extra nights and take in the beginnings of the Christmas holiday market before heading home. For more information, please click here to visit my website.
Land Vacations
For those who would prefer to stay on land, you have some options. If you prefer to stay close to home, you can always take a trip to the Okanagan Valley, the Canadian Rockies for those who want to be more active and do some hiking, visit the historic town of Barkerville, a preserved 19th century gold rush settlement outside Quesnel or how a trip to Pemberton for some quiet time away from the noise of the city? There is definitely much within our own province we can do and I’d be happy to help you explore this more.
Other land vacations could be a train and motorcoach trip to the Rockies with Rocky Mountaineer, or a trip to the Glacier National Park and the Canadian Rockies with Globus. How about a trip back east to visit Newfoundland and Labrador and visit a bit of France without going to France? I’m talking about Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. I’m hooked on that show Saint-Pierre that’s on Gem and now I want to visit this location.
The motorcoach trips today give you more flexibility and choice than before. Whether you want to stay in Canada or go abroad, call me and let’s talk about what a Globus or Cosmos trip can offer you.
Last Thoughts
For those reading this who are thinking, “I’ve already done all that.” That may be true but each time you visit a destination, there will always be something new to discover. But there is also a sense of familiarity and belonging when you’ve been somewhere more than once. Maybe take a tour this time to somewhere different. Walk into that restaurant or café you’ve passed in previous visits but didn’t go in. Do that hike you’ve always wanted to do but didn’t the last time. There is so much you can do. Consider bringing friends with you on this trip if you went on your own the last time. I just ask that you open up to the possibility of seeing and doing something totally different to make your trip the best one ever.
If you have a trip idea you wish to explore, call me and let’s explore the idea together. If you’re part of an organization that loves to travel and want somewhere different to go, call me. Let’s find your group somewhere new and exciting to explore.
Just remember to “travel where your heart desires” to go. You never know where it can take you.
